Do you know about “The Kent family in Ireland : material for a study of the Kent family in Ireland” compiled by Edmond Kent?
I can see it is available in the National Library in Ireland.
Thanks for the reference to this book, Julie. I had not come across it. There were a lot of Kents in Ireland at one time. I have not been able, so far, to connect the Priscilla Kent that is known to be one of my ancestors, with the Kents in the publications I have found. But I will keep trying!
“The Chronicles of a Puritan Family in Ireland (Smith of Glasshouse)” by G. N Nuttall-Smith, available in some major Libraries include references to several Kents such as
Phoebe Kent (dau of Jonathan Kent of Ballylough Castle) m 1769 Aquila Smith
Jane Kent (eldest dau of Aquila Kent of Kilderry, Co Tipperary) m 1735 Ralph Smith
Priscilla Kent of Garrykennedy m abt 1737 William Smith of Annaghbeg.
I have learned a bit about the Smiths of Glasshouse in the past year. Unfortunately they are not related to the Smiths from Cumberland that are part of my family history. It is interesting there were so many marriages between these Kents and the Smiths in the 18th century. The forename Aquila is interesting because, I have been told, one of Priscilla Kent’s older brothers was called Aquila Kent.
